Thermal Electrical Tests for Battery Safety Standardization

Battery safety tests are defined by several international standards in different ways and with heterogenous termination failure criteria. In this work, lithium-ion cells were examined regarding their behavior the event of overcharging also an external short circuit varied parameters specified standards. The voltage, current, temperature curves evaluated. addition, changes analyzed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). It is shown that exhibit reproducible a clamped state. Further, it could be determined position cell opening during overcharge has influence on further cell. EIS data showed have significantly higher internal resistance after overcharge. short-circuit at ambient temperatures indicated decreases increasing temperature. However, no effects spectra present test. This work illustrates choice test criteria undoubtedly results thus may change classification as either safe or unsafe. Thus, classified certain standard but unsafe another.
